Fundamental Metrology

The Danish Safety Technology Authority determines which units of measurement to be used in Denmark. On the behalf of The Danish Safety Technology Authority The Danish Accreditation and Metrology Fund appoints primary and reference laboratories in the different fields of metrology. The following laboratories are appointed:

Those of the appointed primary and reference laboratories having the special status of being GTS-institutes have formed Center for Danish Fundamental Metrology (CDFM).

The primary and reference laboratories unite in the cooperation body Daniamet.

Action programmes for the 10 metrological fields have been made:

    The 10 action programmes have been updated in the report: Strategic Action Plan for Danish Metrology 2006.

    BIPM (Bureau International des Poids et Mesures) has the main task to ensure a world wide consistency of measurements and traceability of the measurements to the international system for units (SI).

    BIPM works on the basis of the Meterconvention a treaty between 51 nations + 23 associated.

    EURAMET

    EURAMET is a cooperation body for the European national metrology institutes.

    EURAMET is the successor of EUROMET (European collaboration in Measurement standards), which was dissolved by 1 July 2007. EUROMET activities have been carried on by EURAMET.
